- In a saucepan, heat the cream, nutella, and milk together over medium heat. Meanwhile, whisk the sugar, yolks, and vanilla extract together in a bowl. Once the cream comes to a simmer, temper the yolks by slowly whisking in the hot cream.
- Return the mixture back to the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until it reaches 170F.
- Cover and cool the mixture down in an ice bath or the refrigerator.
- Churn the ice cream base in your ice cream machine. Mix in the chopped chocolate once the ice cream reaches a soft serve consistency. Freeze until firm.
