The Walking Dead: Aaron's Applesauce

Feast of Starlight
A recipe for homemade applesauce inspired by Aaron from The Walking Dead on AMC.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 5-6 assorted apples peeled and diced
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 slices of fresh lemon peel
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1/4 brown sugar
  • 1/4 sugar or less if your apples are quite sweet
  • pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a pot, combine all of your ingredients.  Bring it to a boil and then drop the temperature down to medium/low heat.  You want the apples to slowly cook at this point.  This will take approximately 30 minutes.  This all depends on how large you have diced your apples.
  • Once the apples are very soft.  Let it cool for a few minutes and then you now have a few options to break down the apples.  I used a vitamix but those can be hard to come by in a zombie apocalypse.  A potato masher would work as well but you'll end up with lumpier product.  Let cool and enjoy!  This is really fun to serve at your next Walking Dead party!
