MADISON: Ham and cheese.

TRUMBO: Ham and cheese… and at school you see someone with no lunch at all. What do you do?

MADISON: Share.

TRUMBO: Share? Well, you don’t just tell them to get a job?

MADISON: No.

TRUMBO: Oh.. you offer them a loan at 6%… oh… that’s very clever.

MADISON: Dad…

TRUMBO: Ah, you just ignore them.

MADISON: No!

TRUMBO: Well, well, you little commie.

A recipe for Madison's favorite lunch, Ham and Cheese, inspired by the film, Trumbo starring Bryan Cranston.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  

• 2 - slices white bread
• 2 tbsp - unsalted butter room temperature
• 1 tbsp - dijon mustard or as needed
• 1.5 oz - sharp cheddar cheese or a cheese of your liking
• 2 - slices ham
• cornichons optional

Method

 

1. Heat a cast iron grill or pan on medium heat.
2. Spread the butter on one side of both slices of bread. Spread the dijon mustard on the other side of the bread slices. Arrange half of the cheese, then the ham, and the rest of the cheese. Top it with the second slice of bread with the butter on the outside.
3. Cook the sandwich on medium heat until golden on both sides and the cheese has melted. Serve immediately.
