Mad Men: Don’s Old Fashioned Cocktail
It’s no secret that I want to live in the era of Don Draper and Peggy Olsen for a day but since that is quite impossible to do I wanted to recreate Don Draper’s favorite drink, the Old Fashioned. I am by no means a expert on mixing drinks but I can appreciate a good drink. The Old Fashioned is basically sugar, bitters, whiskey, and citrus peel. Everything else you add is essentially for show.

Mad Men: Don Draper's Old Fashioned Cocktail
Ingredients
- 1 tsp - granulated sugar
- 3 dashes - Angostura bitters
- ice enough to fill the glass
- 2 oz - rye whiskey
- orange peel
- optional: maraschino cherry
Instructions
- In an old fashioned glass, combine your sugar, bitters, and a squeeze of orange juice
- Stir to hydrate and dissolve the sugar.
- Add your ice and stir
- Add your whiskey and stir again.
- Cut a slice of orange a gently rub it against the edges of the glass and then just leave the peel in the drink.
